Paper-Piecing Crazy Quilt Foundations in 2 Sizes

Cut a foundation piece about 2" bigger than your desired finish. I use muslin for the foundation fabric, but you can use a print too. The order in which you add your pieces are numbered. You would start with number 1 and 2. If you do not know how to paper piece, there is a tutorial on my other site here: http://www.quiltwith2sissies.com/howtopaperpiece.htm and check it out.

This can be made bigger (since we need a bigger one for the challenge) by adding more to the outside edges, or making four and sewing them together, and rimming down. Or, you can take the ideas below and create your own pattern!

Sewing to a foundation block helps you keep the fabrics from stretching on the bias edges. Use a smallish (between 1.5 and 2) stitch length. Press velvets or satins on low heat to avoid crumpling. Press as you go, to make sure your fabrics lay flat.
