The Adventures Continue!

February 12

Yesterday my hosts took me and Hitty Grace to a miniature show. My hostess, Judy, was hoping there would be something there of Hitty-scale. Unfortunately, although there were many beautiful items to be purchased, none were correct for Hittys. We did find a lovely English cottage in the Exhibit Room. Perhaps someday my travels will take me to visit a real English cottage.

After the show, we stop in nearby Manhattan Beach to visit Judy's cousin, Donna. Donna's Golden Retriever, Zoe, recently had a litter of ten puppies. I was able to meet close-up with one of the 4-1/2 week old pups, Coastal Eddie. As you will see in the photo, Coastal Eddie was quite fond of me.

February 14 - Happy Valentine's Day!

Once again I awoke to a beautiful sunny day. And, once again, I could hear all sorts of scurrying and whispering going on in the Hitty house. Something big was in the plans for the day. I knew that today was to be my last day here in Sherman Oaks and right away I started getting my possessions together.

Mid-day I was invited into the parlour which had been decorated for Valentine’s Day. It was such a festive site, and, oh my, so many yummy things to eat. Valentine hearts were being passed about. I was given a lively striped one to keep as a memento of my visit here.

The party was two-fold. It was a celebration of my visit here and also a welcoming to the Sherman Oaks Gang’s newest member, Hitty Cherry Valentine. She and I were given the place of honor at the head of the table. Hitty Cherry is a very sweet and pleasant person. I know she will be happy here.

After we were full from the wonderful sweets, the Hittys brought out a wooden chest and presented it to me. It was for me to use to pack my souvenirs from my visit in Sherman Oaks. I opened the chest and found that my poster and book about teeth from the Science Lecture were already inside. Also inside was a lovely cloak and bonnet knit by my hostess. The Hittys reminded me that I would be leaving for New York tomorrow and would need some warm clothing as there had been a very big snowfall.

Moses and Otis brought the wooden chest to my guest room so that I could pack all of my newly acquired possessions. Tomorrow I leave on the postal bus to return to Ms. Julie. Visiting the many hosts throughout the United States has been a wonderful adventure. Soon I will learn of my permanent home.

What a grand adventure I have had!
