Hitty Geneva's Visit to Celia
Canton, Georgia, July 23, 2009 As I reported briefly several days ago, I arrived in Atlanta with much fanfare during the United Confederation of Doll Clubs convention. There, Celia Caldwell, the person in whose home that is currently hosting my visit in the State of Georgia, was attending the convention in the company of Fung Hicks, Bonnie M. and Joan L. Jane Evans and Edward Kanciruk brought me to Atlanta from Enterprise, AL. I had been expected to visit with Evans & Kanciruk for 2 weeks in Enterprise, but due to my unexpected long trip to Alabama from Rockingham, NC, I was in Enterprise only a few days. So shortly, I was packed up again in my travel box and was on the way to Atlanta, GA. Mr. Kanciruk had visions of taking me here and there in Alabama, and was so disappointed in my extremely short stay in their home, that Ms. Evans suggested that I return to Alabama at the end of my visit in Atlanta and before going home to Theresa, NY. I was delighted to hear this solution, and everyone involved thought this a brilliant idea. The Hittygirls moderator was consulted about this endeavor, and agreed hardily upon the decision. The exciting part of coming to Atlanta was meeting again with Denise Hertzberg, with whom I came alive through her carving and painting. Through Mrs. Herzberg's generosity, I was designated as a Hittygirls Travel Doll representing Geneva Grace Stratton-Porter.At a dinner where Hitty admirers gathered, I was introduced to Hitty dolls and to many wood doll enthusiasts who came from all over the USA. I visited the counseling office in Marietta, where Celia works,
and I loved the view out the screen door onto a nice deck. Yesterday,
was quite an adventure. Hitty Hays, my hostess here in Georgia, and I
went to Ms. Vicki's to see her farm animals. She has chickens, guinnes,
ducks, dogs and cats. I also was perched a top of the family tractor,
which seems anchient, for pictures. See the pictures posted by Celia. Faithfully yours, Hitty Geneva |
