Our Question:

How much 'stuff' does one Hitty need??? And how far have you gone to get it for her???

comments: I've only owned my Hitty a month but so far I've sent her off traveling on a Round Robin, purchased her friend Magnolia (or at least ordered Magnolia), I am making a bedroom for her to share with Magnolia out of a small dollhouse kit. She already has a teddy bear, rag doll, sleeping bag, a china dog, a duck collection, her own chair, a puppet theater, paper dolls and lots of other little treasures. Basically, she'll be as spoiled as I can afford to let her be.

comments: No one can have too much stuff for Hitty. A friend and I simply enjoyed our traveling to New Orleans and the UFDC National Convention -- all through the eyes of our Hittys -- hers a Judy Brown and mine a Janci. They sat on the railing at Funk's Crossing (on Route 66), touched the Arch in St Louis and even had dinner at Graceland (if eating Taco Bell parked out front counts.) Hers stole a face cloth from the hotel and mine caught it on camera. Its hard keeping them out of trouble when they get together. Of course they went to the Hitty Gathering during the convention and the ride home was much more quiet -- guess they had a good time too! My friend is now in New Zealand, gathering more memories!

comments: My Hitty's once were burdened with possessions, many the gifts of wonderful, loving friends. The gifts came over many years of time, and some were older than the supposed age of the original Hitty. She had so many possessions that three years ago, she kindly shared them with her close Hitty friends. Now she has some very special, and only a few, possessions. She has dresses, all hand-sewn, either by close friends or myself. She has one chair and one bench that looks much like the original Hitty's settle. She may want more, but I keep reminding her of Pablo Picasso's mantra: "Less is More".

comments: I have a room box for Hitty. I mostly make things for them. I have made a desk for her so she can continue to write and in several swaos she has received several things. I recently purchased a home ec teacher to help them with their sewing. I found a great bed and bedding on ebay for them. I need to do them some clothes-have been busy but I did manage to get them all underwear made. I have a bigger doll house I am working on but it is slowly moving along. Kitty is the most precious doll I have. I have done swaps and personnel swaps with other Hitty makers so she has lots of friends and wants moreeeeeeeeeee.

comments: My Hitty only arrived yesterday, but I can tell I'm in big trouble. I have been collecting little antique things and fabrics for several years in preparation for her arrival. I am hoping to stop at one room box with several changes of accessories, perhaps for the seasons. My first goal is to make one of each of the outfits depicted in the book. I found my "Phoebe Preble" material last night and already had the gray silk for Clarissa's "Meeting Day" outfit. I would love to have a sampler, but need someone to make that for me. I've downloaded your patterns for the settle and desk. Those I can do! I've had a miniature doll hammock for many years, jut waiting for Hitty to use it!

comments: When I got my first Hitty I planned on having only one Hitty as travel doll and companion, but the first thing she needed was for me to buy more dolls as friends! She now has several antique-doll friends as well as pets, clothes, and toys. I originally created a two-room log cabin for her, but within a month of her birth she insisted I begin to save for an enormous mansion from Real Good Toys! Most recently, she's started to talk about having her own domain name....

comments: Hitty doesn't NEED anything. But she sure seems to WANT a lot. I need a new house just to put her things into. I love it.

comments: Right now, Hitty, has an furnished apartment in our bookcase. She is waiting, for me to put up wallpaper and maybe some windows.
She, has a kitchen, and living room. There, are, cats, blue willow dishes, some pots and pans, baskets,a harp, and also a friend. She, just received a tiny Hitty, and Bear.I don't sew, but, she has an extra dress. Hope, to get her more. We keep adding to her treasures. Anything, her size, she can use, go's into her house.
Since, she is the only Hitty here, I like finding her items. She enjoys them, and is not at all spoiled. lol

comments: I took a Hitty with me to India a couple of years ago so that I could take her photo with a snake charmer and buy her some sari fabric and I wanted to get her a cobra in a box. I have bought her a real coral necklace. She has a Japanese kimono. I have had lots of clothes made for her and B. J. Male gave her a wonderful rug. Terry Pierce gave her a beautiful musical clothes bureau. I try to buy Hitty anything appropriate. She has a set of crows and some mice and a monkey. She has a cradle, desk, settle, and chest. I want a doll house for her (them). I have lots of Hittys and they all share. I LOVE HITTY

comments: I know my Hitty has more clothes then I do and a few of her outfits cost more then I ever paid for anything I own. The Hittys have now graduated to a room of their own as there was just too much stuff.

comments: Since I sell miniatures on my web site, my little Hittys have their choose of goodies. I sometimes photo them with their different items and display on my site, showing that the dolls are for sale with that item. My girls have gobs of stuffed animals, furniture, seasonal decorations, clothes, dishes, pots and pans, silverware, glass bottles..........I have not given my Hittys doll houses. Their beds, and above, are in bamboo/basketry storage units. Some stay by my side as I type e-mails or manage my website http://barbspencerdolls.com The girls are well cared for.

comments: I may go bankrupt soon if they don't stay off ebay. they own more stuff than me. And have way prettier clothes too.

comments: my hitty's are not greedy and doesn't need anything except what I want to give her and never needs 'stuff' only quality.

comments: My girls have everything they want--and more. As a matter of fact, Charlotte was telling me that we really need to get another house, so they won't be so cramped! I buy from ebay, and of course cruise the $$ store all the time for little items to make them happy. I think the most effort I went into to find something for one of the girls was when I wanted Hitty iris Raikes to have a puppy. it had to be a black lab. it was near impossible to find one! And of course, after weeks scouring ebay and finally finding one, they started popping up all over the place.--Julie :)
