Here are Susan's comments on this Hitty:

This is the 7 1/4" doll offered on e-Bay 07/02 or 08/02 as a Hitty the seller's mother made and had left over after local sales. ...she painted the doll solid black from the waist down. The top of the "pantyhose" had a little decoration, and the back had her signature. Her features were done in black ... Her face appears to have been sliced into shape without smoothing the edges, so the planes are too sharp, giving her a rather harsh look. The head is too long, front to back, mostly due to the curls, but the entire face extends too far in front of the neck.

I painted the legs flesh-color. I also gave her white painted-on panties, but left the black waist because it has dark red decorations. I also left the black in back where the signature, decorations and a bow are. None of the decorations can be seen in the photos, except a bit of the bow. A welcome surprise: The shoes/low boots have the look of leather because the black shows very slightly through the red over-paint.

I didn't exactly repaint the eyes: I added blue for the iris, and a touch of white for the visible eyeball and for highlights. I also overpainted her mostly black mouth but left a bit of lip liner. The smile is her own.
