John and Hal's
What Can You Build From.....

John and Hal have come up with a dresser you can build for almost pennies!
And the best part? The wood can be purchased at stores like Michaels, Jo-ann Fabrics, Walmart, and other like places.

In this project, you will need:
1--12" x 4" x 1/8" sheet of Craft Wood
1/4" square dowel
Saw to cut wood
Sandpaper
Glue
Stain or paint

The build sheet is NOT to scale.
Cut your pieces as shown above.
From the square dowel, cut:
4--3" long
2--1 7/8" long

Here are the cut pieces laid out.
Sand all rough edges before beginning.

I usually lay my pieces out in the places they will be used.

Start by gluing two legs to either end of the front.
Repeat with other two legs for the Back.

Next, take your bottom piece, and glue it in place.

Here you see the bottom and one side glue to the front, with one end in place.
Repeat for the other end and the back.

Make sure as you glue that the corners meet like this!

Once the glue is dry and you can handle the piece again, add your drawer fronts.

Here John is showing you how to measure where the stops will go on the dresser top.

Glue them to the top, making sure you go in enough to make it fit right.
It's 'about' 1/2" in from either end, but always check fit.

The lid should fit right into the base.

Hitty Coal wants to show you how the top can be removed,
and the Dresser can be used for storage.

Storage...and other things!
